My Story

I am Esmari le Roux, a therapeutic play practitioner and social worker. I studied B. Social Work at Stellenbosch University and later decided to extend my studies in Play Therapy through Play Therapy International accredited through Beckett Leeds University in the UK.

I am passionate about children and their mental wellbeing as I worked in various settings where I interacted with children and parents and saw the need of helping little ones to succeed and grow to go through life with a positive and strong mindset.

I like the outdoors, spending time with family and friends and trying out new coffee shops.

“Enter into children’s play and you will find the place where their minds, hearts and souls meet” – Virginia Axline

My Approach

I make use of a holistic, child centred approach. Depending on the client the process can be combination of directive and non-directive.

It is non judgemental where the child can feel free to express his/her feelings freely. It is a safe and confidential space.

The toolkit consists, but not limited to:

·       Art - Drawing and Painting

·       Therapeutic Storytelling

·       Creative Visualisation

·       Sandtray / Sand Worlds

·       Music

·       Dance and Movement

·       Role play

·       Puppets

·       Masks

·       Clay; play dough

·       Sensory play
