PLAY THERAPY

As parents we get concerned when our children go through difficulties which can cause them to be disruptive; struggling to cope; being sad; being anxious or rebellious.  This can also have an effect on their eating and sleeping; how they get along with family and friends; their self-esteem or how they cope with school.

WHAT IS PLAY THERAPY?

Play is the medium in which children expresses themselves and communicate. An important part of a child’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical, creative and language development.

By making use of play therapy it gives children the opportunity to work through their difficulties and overcoming them without it feeling threatening. It helps them to understand their emotions or working through an event that they did not get the chance to do and understand yet.

How can it benefit your child?

Ages 3 - 14

- Emotional support where they learn to understand their own

  thoughts and feelings

- Learn to handle conflict in ways that are appropriate and

  manage relationships better

- Include a better self-esteem; improved behaviour; reducing of

  anxiety and bettering friendships

As a parent we want to make sure that we help our children to the best of our ability and when children are going through difficulties we don’t understand, we do not want others to think we are not capable. Working together with parents are very important and you are also a big part of the process.
